Super Waldin Avocado - Amigo dry weight 16.77 %
September 21, 2020: This is not in my grove, it is located in an amigos grove who wants to remain anonymous. I have known about this tree for some time. I came back alive as my interest with the Super Waldin is increasing. This is the story. About 10 years ago. Mi amigo saw this tree in an amiga's grove. The tree's Waldin root stock had over taken the grafted tree and was producing nice fruit. He took some bud wood and grafted ten trees and subsequently planted them in his property. The 10 trees are producing today very nicely. Why I find it so important? The amiga's grove, has been devastated by Laurel Wilt, I have not seen it, but my amigo says that this is the last remaining tree in the amiga's grove the others are dead from the wilt.
Now, men does not live by bread alone......we got to have some hope !
I went to my amigo's grove got a few fruit and will start accumulation data and pictures. Did the dry weight 16.77% a bit on the high end of the others S.W. Fruit Size ranges from 24-27oz seems to be meatier that the others. The seed seems to be off center, nice yellow flesh, The seed average weight is 3.3 oz and 54 mm in size and very consistent. Will add additional information when I taste the fruit.
September 29, 2020. Fruit was tasted and it is high quality very enjoyable fruit. Cleaner, better color, tastier than the original Waldin, definitely with a smaller seed.
